Family Weekend Getaway – Farm Stay Skagit

How about a Farm Stay in Skagit Valley for your next family weekend getaway?

We recently had a great family visit and they shared these photos with us of their stay during a very rainy couple of days. Despite the rain, we all had a great time and they are coming back in June for their next family weekend getaway at Farm Stay Skagit. Here they are helping us take hay out to the cows.

Spring 2013 Reviews

Thank you so much for a delightful stay!  Everything you have both done to make your farm a wonderful experience for our family was most appreciated!  We had a fantastic time and hope to be back soon!   Family of 8, Lake Stevens WA

I had an awesome time here.  It was really fun and we made a “hay house”.  11-year old daughter of the Lake Stevens Family

Thank you for spending so much time teaching my daughter all about the farm.  She was thrilled to be able to gather 6 eggs–none of them white!  We loved Maggie, feeding the sheep peanuts, and getting the food ready for all the farm animals.  We slept cozy and warm in the queen-size bed.  My daughter also had fun cooking up 5 scrambled eggs!  Thank you for the very memorable time we spent here!   Mother and daughter, Southern California

I love the farm! (With a drawing of Polly, the Pig)   7-year old daughter from Southern California

Farmers for a day

Our local newspaper, The Skagit Valley Herald, featured Hoehn Bend Farm in the “Living” section this weekend.  We were thrilled!  You can ready the entire article online at Go Skagit.

Chicken Transportation

Almost every day the chickens ride on the garden cart from their coop in the barn to the outside “Hen Hilton”. Of course Buffy gets to ride in 1st class, on Terry’s shoulder.

Polly Cleans Up Farm Stay Skagit

Polly the Pig is always eager to clean up fallen fruit around the Italian plum tree as well as the King apple tree. You can’t put a harness on pig, but she will follow you anywhere if the food is yummy.

Fall 2012 Reviews

September and October brought more lovely guests to Hoehn Bend Farm (as well as some returning visitors).  Here are some of their comments:

Thank you Hoehn Bend Farm!  We had an absolutely wonderful stay on the farm.  It brought both my husband and me back to our youth when we rode horses and worked on farms.  Our 1-year old daughter could not get enough of the pig, sheep, and chickens.  What a great experience for her!  The house is absolutely darling and we hope to stay again.  Family of 3, Seattle WA (MS 150 Bike Riders)

Thank you for letting us stay at your wonderful farmhouse.  Everything was just right, don’t change a thing!  We enjoyed all of the animals, especially Polly the Pig.  The farm house and its location provided us with the perfect starting point for our day hikes—we could plan our hike the night before and be on the trails (Mount Baker and Sauk Mountain) by early morning.      4 Hiking Friends, Annapolis MD

Thank you, Terry and Jean, for being such excellent hosts.  We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Hoehn Bend Farm.  The kids loved feeding the animals and petting their feathers/noses/backs.  After the rain, we had a beautiful Saturday with apple picking, pumpkin finding, and a nice trip to the North Cascades National Park.  The house is well stocked with everything we needed.  We will be back!     Family of 4, Seattle WA

Looking over our field to Lyman Hill across the valley, we see the first snow of winter 2012 at Hoehn Bend Farm Stay even if it is only the middle of October!

Summer 2012 Reviews

We have thoroughly enjoyed meeting the Farm Stay guests who have stayed with us this summer at Hoehn Bend Farm.  Here are some sample comments from our Guest Book:

We so enjoy coming to Hoehn Bend Farm.  We find it so therapeutic and a welcome change from our lives in the city.  Our daughter absolutely loves being on the farm and interacting with all the wonderful animals.  Most of all though she just adores Farmer Terry and Farmer Jean!  As do we.            Family of 3, Kirkland WA

Hoehn Bend Farm was just what we needed.  The house and barnyard animals were so relaxing to be in and around.  Our child and a friend’s children absolutely loved tending to the animals and being able to “work” on a farm.  We will definitely be coming back!          Family of 3, Albuquerque NM

Experience Hoehn Bend Farm Stay

Farm Stay in Washington State

farm stay washington stateA short video for you to get a feel of the farm stay in Skagit Valley – Washington State.  Enjoy our overnight lodging and experience the rural lifestyle.

Hoehn Bend Farm was previously a dairy farm for many years.  Under our ownership for the past few years, we raise Dexter Cattle, an Irish heritage breed that is the smallest breed of cattle.

Our farm consists of a large white barn with feeding areas for our cattle and calving pens, a shop for equipment, and other outbuildings that were originally “rest areas” for the dairy cows.

Five acres of our pasture are fenced for the cattle and other livestock.  An additional 21 acres grows grass that is mowed, tedded, raked, and then baled as dry hay during the summer.

Our farm stay in Washington State is nestled in a narrow valley with beautiful hills on both sides, the setting is peaceful and serene… most of the time.  In the summer, during hay production, tractors will be running in our fields and throughout the neighborhood (although not early in the morning).

At the second farm, Fender Farm, a brief 15-minute walk down the road, we have two gardens: one for our vegetables; one for pumpkins, squash, and ornamental gourds.

If you are looking for a farm stay in Washington State, please consider Hoehn Bend Farm Stay.

Postcard Origins

Terry left early for the farm to feed animals, knowing I would be staying home to cook Thanksgiving dinner for some friends and us.  I had not been feeling well, so he left a sweet note of encouragement, illustrated with some his cartoon drawings—a cow, a pig, a kitty cat, and a self-portrait of a farmer.  Later he added the farmhouse, barn, and Maggie (our collie puppy).  With the assistance of our wonderful graphic artist, these sketches turned into our official Hoehn Bend Farm Postcard!
